The route: two stretches, honestly

Let's be straight about what's here, because most guides aren't. "Expo City cycling" is not one continuous route: our map shows two separate groups of lanes. The first is about 6 km of cycle track along the Expo Road corridor beside Expo City, built from RTA segments laid for the Expo era plus newer additions. The second is roughly 4 km of lanes inside Dubai Investments Park, the huge mixed industrial and residential district to the south, and it sits about 2 km from the Expo group with no mapped cycle lane bridging the gap. Those numbers are measured from the lane geometry on our live map, not lifted from a brochure. You will also see "10 km Expo City track" quoted in listicles; that figure appears to describe the paths inside Expo City's gates, which are pedestrian-shared district paths rather than the RTA roadside track our map covers.

Getting there

This corner of Dubai is far from everything except the metro, and the metro is the story. The Route 2020 branch of the Red Line, opened in 2021 to serve the World Expo, stops at both ends of this ride: Expo 2020 station lands you at Expo City's gates, and Dubai Investment Park station serves DIP. Dubai Metro allows folding bicycles aboard (regular bikes are restricted; check RTA rules before travelling with a full-size bike). Driving is the realistic option for most riders, and Expo City has large event-scale car parks, though we haven't field-checked the practical rider setup on a normal day.

Expo City: Dubai's event-cycling hub

The everyday lanes here are modest, but the venue is anything but. Expo City is where Dubai's marquee timed sportive lives: the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, a UCI Gran Fondo World Championships qualifier, starts and finishes here on closed roads, with the next edition on Sunday 7 February 2027 per the official cyclechallenge.ae. L'Étape Dubai by Tour de France finished its 2026 edition at Expo Village on the same road network. DIP answers with its own community race, the DIP Cycling Challenge, run with Dubai Sports Council, RTA and Dubai Police over 40, 20, 10 and 6 km on the district's streets. What riders should know

Treat this as utility riding with a destination attached. The Expo Road stretch is flat, straight and exposed: no tower shade, no cafés en route, so carry water and ride early, especially outside the November to March season. The DIP stretch serves a working district, which means truck traffic on the roads around it and quiet lanes within; weekend mornings are calmest. Crossing between the two groups currently means roughly 2 km on regular roads, and we haven't verified a safe recommended line. As for the desert: Al Qudra's network lies to the east and Jebel Ali's coast to the west, but no verified cycle route links Expo City to either, so riders headed for the Al Qudra loops drive there.
