Al Warqa / Mirdif Cycling Track: Map, Route & Facts

The route

This is neighbourhood riding, and that is the point. The lanes mapped on this site total about 8.4 km, threading the villa blocks of Al Warqa 3 along the community's internal streets, with Mirdif starting just across the district line to the north. The RTA's own figure for the completed track here is 7.4 km; our number is measured from the lane geometry on the live map, which also picks up the connecting spurs. Expect short, linked segments rather than one continuous circuit: this network was built so residents can ride to the park, the shops and each other's streets, and it rewards being ridden that way. For a longer session, stitch the lanes into repeats or use them as the warm-up before crossing Al Khawaneej Road to Mushrif Park, whose 50 km of graded singletrack is the serious riding next door.

A network being built around it

Al Warqa's lanes are young and still growing. The area's first tracks arrived in the RTA's 2017–2019 residential push: a 32 km build across Mushrif, Mirdif and Al Khawaneej (two cyclist and pedestrian bridges included), followed by a 25 km phase in Al Warqa itself with a combined bridge at Tripoli Road. By late 2024 the RTA counted 7.4 km of completed cycling track inside Al Warqa and had started a further 16 km alongside the internal-roads upgrade of Al Warqa 3 and 4. The 2026 master-plan announcement added 11 km of pedestrian and cycling tracks at Al Warqa's entrances, linking to the existing lanes, with the wider network, from Al Warqa all the way to Saih Al Salam and the Al Qudra desert system, scheduled to open from the second quarter of 2026. Ride it now and you are riding the early kilometres of what the RTA intends as a 1,000 km citywide network by 2030.

Getting there & nearby

Al Warqa sits in eastern Dubai between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Khawaneej Road, about 10 minutes from Dubai International Airport by car. There is no metro station in the district, so driving or living here are the realistic ways in; we are field-checking the practical parking options for visiting riders. The neighbourhood compensates with destinations: Mirdif City Centre and Uptown Mirdif are both minutes away for coffee, food and air-conditioned recovery, and a bike shop has traded inside Mirdif City Centre. The headline neighbour is Mushrif Park on Al Khawaneej Road: AED 3 gets you into Dubai's biggest MTB trail network, which makes Al Warqa and Mirdif one of the few places in the city where easy tarmac laps and proper singletrack live side by side.

What riders should know

Calibrate expectations: this is a community track, and it serves walkers, kids on bikes, scooters and school-run traffic before it serves anyone chasing a training number. Junctions with residential streets come frequently, so ride at a speed that lets you yield; driveways and parked cars shorten sightlines in the villa blocks. For steady-state efforts, the floodlit loops at Nad Al Sheba or the Al Qudra desert network remain the right venues, and the planned Al Warqa to Saih Al Salam link will eventually let you ride from these streets to that desert. The usual Dubai sun logic applies: early morning is the reliable window year-round, and winter evenings are when the community lanes are at their liveliest and best. We have not yet field-verified surface, lighting or the open status of the newest segments; the pending rows above are the honest state of our knowledge.
