The loops & Trail X

Hudayriyat is Modon's purpose-built sports island, and it treats cycling as a headline act rather than an amenity. Road riders get three lit asphalt circuits — roughly 5, 10 and 15 km — with the inner loop pitched at beginners and the outer loops adding distance and wind exposure; the section every rider photographs is the raised causeway where the track crosses open water. Mountain bikers get something Dubai simply doesn't have: Trail X, a 15 km colour-graded network (Green 8.9 km, Blue 2.8 km, Red 1.9 km, Black 1.9 km) with built features and rises up to ten metres. Our map shows about 42 km of total riding on the island — measured from the mapped network, not marketing copy. Guides quote a 28 km figure for the designated tracks; the difference is connecting paths and newer segments.

Getting there & entry

The island sits immediately south of Abu Dhabi city, reached by the causeway from Al Bateen/Marina — about 15 minutes from downtown, or roughly 90 minutes from Dubai. Entry to the island and its tracks is free; you pay only for rentals and paid venues like Circuit X. Parking is plentiful by the sports hubs. Track hours are the one fact our sources genuinely dispute — Gocyc says 24/7, BikePark says 5 am to midnight — so treat late-night rides as unconfirmed until our field check settles it.

Rentals & the trackside ecosystem

No UAE track has a denser cyclist ecosystem. Yas Cycles rents road and hybrid bikes at around AED 50 an hour or AED 150 a day; Wolfi's — Dubai's best-known bike shop — runs an on-site rental and service point with road bikes, e-bikes and kids' bikes, roughly 6 am to 10 pm. The Abu Dhabi Cycling Club keeps its hub here with showers and the Service Course café (7 am–10 pm) as the default post-ride stop. Around the bike scene sits the rest of the island: 321 Sports' courts, gym and bike studio running past midnight, Circuit X's BMX and skate parks, ropes courses, and public beaches for the post-ride swim. Rent-and-ride is genuinely effortless here — the island was designed for exactly that visitor.

Wind is the tactical factor: the island is surrounded by water and the outer loop's exposed sections — especially the sea causeway — can turn a social spin into an echelon drill, so check the forecast before committing to intervals. Evenings are the social hour year-round; the lit loops fill after sunset in summer, and winter weekend mornings bring club pacelines from the ADCC hub. Trail X grades honestly — the Black segments are short but genuinely technical, and the Green loop is one of the best MTB introductions in the country. Families should note the split geography: the beginner loop, Circuit X and the beaches cluster together, so mixed-ability groups can all start from one car park.
